March 6, 2004 - Junior hockey forward Susan Engel was named to this year's All-MIAC team after an excellent individual effort for the Blazers. CSB ended the hockey season 4-12-2 MIAC, 6-14-2 overall.  Engel, who finished third in MIAC for goal scoring this season, was also named to the All-MIAC team for the 2001-2002 season.
 

Feb. 28, 2004 -  Today the Blazers (4-12-2 MIAC, 6-14-2 overall) lost their final game of the season to the Gustavus Gusties (16-2-0 MIAC, 20-5-0 overall) 6-1.  Sophomore forward Lisa Bush scored CSB's goal with about three minutes left in the second period.  Bush was assisted by junior forward Susan Engel and sophomore forward Beth Schiller.  Senior goalie Kate Hall had 58 saves on goal with 64 shots on goal.
 

Blazers defeated by Gusties 5-0

Feb. 27, 2004- Tonight the Blazers (4-11-2 MIAC, 6-13-2 Overall) lost their final home game of the season to the Gustavus Gusties (15-2-0 MIAC, 19-5-0 Overall) 5-0. CSB put up a strong fight defensively against the number-two scoring offense and number-one scoring defense in MIAC.
 

Feb. 21, 2004 - The Blazers (6-11-2 overall, 4-9-2 MIAC) tied Augsburg (12-9-1 overall, 8-6-1 MIAC) 4-4.  Junior skater Katie Ponsolle scored two goals.  Junior forward Susan Engel opened the game with a goal.  Engel was assisted by Ponsolle.  Engel then went on to assist Ponsolle with her first goal of the game.  First-year forward Sarah Wilson earned Saint Ben's third goal of the game.  Wilson was assisted my first-year skaters Sarah Horlitz and Kristi Fairchild.  With 34 seconds left in the game Engel assisted Ponsolle in the game tying goal.  Tomorrow, Sat. Feb. 21, 2004 the Blazers will be hosting Augsburg at 2 p.m.
 

The Record Feb. 19, 2004 - Despite the pressure of playing St. Thomas, the top team in the MIAC, St. Ben's hockey coach Dave Laliberte had no special words of advice for his team before last weekend's series.
 

Feb. 15, 2004 - The Blazers hockey team (4-8-1, 6-10-1 MIAC) hosted the St. Thomas Tommies (16-4-1, 13-0-0 MIAC) today.  Saint Ben's lost 6-1.  St. Thomas started out strong, scoring on the Blazers 4 times in the first period.  UST senior forward Tomery Stolz picked up two unassisted goals and assisted first year forward Allison Turgeon's goal.  Stolz and sophomore Allison O'Hara assisted sophomore Maureen Hardwick's goal.
 

Feb. 13, 2004 - The Blazers (4-7-1 MIAC, 6-10-1 overall) lost a hard fought Battle against the Tommies (12-0-0 MIAC, 14-4-1 overall)  6-2.  Saint Ben's first-year defense skater Stephanie Gassert opened the game earning CSB's first goal.  Gassert was assisted by first-year skaters Carliene Quist and Sarah Wilson.  Four minutes into the second period Quist assisted junior forward Susan Engel in putting the Blazer's second puck in the net.  Senior goalie Kate Hall had 25 saves on goal.  Saint Ben's will be hosting Saint Thomas on Sun. Feb. 15, 2004 at 2 p.m.
 

Feb. 8, 2004 - Today the Hamline Pipers (0-12 MIAC, 2-16 overall) hosted the Blazers (4-7-1 MIAC, 6-9-1 overall).  The Blazers won 8-0 with senior goalie Kate Hall earning ten saves.  Junior forward Katie Ponsolle and first-year forward Erin Baldwin each contributed to goals.  The first period was scoreless.  First-year forward Sarah Wilson opened the second period with the first goal of the game.  Wilson was assisted by senior skater Sarah Ladd.  Junior forward Susan Engel assisted Ponsolle in her first goal of the game.  First-year defense-player Stephanie Roers and Engel earned the assist on Baldwin's first goal of the game.  Soon after, first-year skater Sarah Horlitz put a puck in the net earning Saint Ben's fourth goal.   
 

Feb. 7, 2004 - The Blazers (3-6-1 MIAC, 6-8-1 overall) beat the Hamline Pipers (0-11-0 MIAC, 2-14-0)  7-1.  Tonight was parent appreciation night causing a fun atmosphere.  With two minutes left in the first period first-year skater Jill Woehrle scored the first goal of the game without an assist.
 

Feb. 1, 2004 - The Blazers (2-7-1 MIAC, 4-9-1) battled the Cobbers (4-6-0 MIAC, 5-7-0 overall) and lost 8-5.  First-year forward Jill Woehrle started the game off with a goal for Saint Ben's.  Woehrle was assisted by junior forward Amy Glaeser.  CSB was determine to take the lead.  Shortly after Woehrle's goal sophomore forward Lisa Bush and sophomore skater Beth Schiller assisted sophomore forward Liz Sieh in putting another puck in the net.  Concordia's senior skater Jenei Estrada was determined not to fall behind and scored the Cobbers first goal shortly before the end of the first period.
 

Jan. 31, 2004 - Concordia-Moorhead (3-6-0 MIAC, 4-7-0 overall) slipped past the Blazers (2-6-1 MIAC, 4-8-1 overall) 5-3 in an intense game.  Saint Ben's started off the game with junior forward Susan Engel scoring on an assist by senior captain Kari Dykhoff.  Five minutes later first-year forward Erin Baldwin assisted senior skater Sarah Ladd in earning CSB's second goal.  Shortly after Ladd's goal the Cobbers first-year forward Brandie Dunn scored Concordia's first goal of the game.  Dunn was assisted by sophomore skater Kali Palmer.
 

The Record Jan. 29, 2004 - CSB junior Susan Engel has been performing soundly on the women's hockey team this season. The forward has been playing hockey for 10 years and continues to do so out of a love for the sport. Her talents include exceptional puck handling, speed and scoring abilities.
 

Jan. 24, 2004 - The Blazers (2-6-1 MIAC, 5-7-1 Overall) were defeated by the College of St. Catherine Wildcats (6-4-0 MIAC, 6-7-1 Overall) 4-2.  First year Sarah Wilson assisted as sophomore forward Lisa Bush scored the Blazers' first goal.  Senior Kari Dykhoff scored on an assist by junior Amy Glaeser.
 

Blazers Fall to St. Catherine 3-1

January 23, 2004 - With a final score of 3-1, the Blazers (2-4-1 MIAC, 5-6-1 overall) fell short in the first of two matches against the College of St. Catherine Wildcats (5-4-0 MIAC, 5-7-1 overall).  Junior forward Susan Engel scored the only goal for Saint Bens in the first period, with first year Erin Baldwin picking up the assist.  First year Chelsie Kahlhamer had 31 saves with 34 shots on goal.  Saint Benedict will host St. Catherine on Saturday, January 24, at 2:00 p.m.
 

Jan. 19, 2004 - On Fri. Jan. 16, 2004 the Blazers (2-3-1 MIAC, 5-5-1 overall) took on Saint Cloud State's club team (0-0-2) and won 8-2.  First-year forward Sarah Wilson opened the game with a hat trick in the first period.  Wilson's first goal was assisted by first-year skater Stephanie Roers.  Wilson's third goal was assisted by sophomore Beth Schiller and Roers.  Sophomore Lisa Bush scored the fourth goal of the game.  Bush was assisted by Schiller and junior forward Amy Glaeser.  To end the first period first-year skater Stephanie Gassert put CSB's fifth puck in the net.  Gassert was assisted by senior captain Kari Dykhoff. 
 

Jan. 10, 2004 -  The Blazers (4-5-1 overall, 2-3-1 MIAC) came back from yesterday's 5-2 loss against Saint Mary's (8-2-1 overall, 5-1-0 MIAC) to beat the Cardinals 2-1.  First - year forward Erin Baldwin assisted first - year player Jill Woehrle in scoring CSB's first goal of the game.  Junior forward Susan Engel scored the second goal for Saint Ben's allowing the Blazers to pull ahead and beat Saint Mary's.  Engel was assisted by first - year skater Sarah Horlitz.  On Fri. Jan. 16, at 8 p.m. Saint Cloud State Club will be hosting Saint Ben's.
 

Blazers Defeated By Saint Mary's 5 - 2

Jan. 9, 2004 - The Blazers (3-5-1 overall, 1-3-1 MIAC) were defeated by Saint Mary's (8-1-1 overall, 5-0-0 MIAC) 5-2.  Saint Ben's went scoreless in the first period.  In the second period first - year forward Sarah Wilson scored CSB's first goal.  Wilson was assisted by first - year player Sarah Horlitz.  During the third period junior forward Katie Ponsolle scored a short handed goal.  Saint Ben's fought hard, but was unable to pull ahead of Saint Mary's.  Saint Mary's Cardinals will be hosting the Blazers tomorrow at 2 p.m.
 

Dec. 13, 2003 - The Blazers welcomed Alumni to the MAC in Saint Cloud.  Saint Ben's beat the Alumni 6 - 2 in a fun filled game.  Music filled the air from the two person pep band.  It was an intense, but fun game.  CSB's next two games will be at Saint Mary's on Fri. and Sat, Jan. 9 - 10.
 

Dec. 7, 2003 - The Blazers (4-4-1) lost to St. Olaf (4-2-2) 1-0.  CSB's first-year goalie Chelsie Kahlhamer stopped 21 shots on goal.
 

Dec. 6, 2003 - The Blazers (4-3-1) lost to St. Olaf (3-2-2) 4-2.  Junior Susan Engel scored two goals.  First year goalie Chelsie Kahlhamer had 28 saves.
 

Nov. 25, 2003 - In a non - conference game against Saint Cloud State, the Blazers (4-2-1) beat the Huskies (7-2-0) 7-1.  Junior Susan Engel scored her second hat trick in two consecutive games!
 

Nov. 22, 2003 - The Blazers (3-2-1) beat Bethel (0-2-1) 6-2.  Junior Susan Engel led Saint Ben's to victory with a hat-trick.  Engel earned the Blazer's first hat-trick of the season.  Senior goal tender, Kate Hall, had 19 saves.  CSB will be hosting a non - conference game on Tues. Nov. 25, 2003 against Saint Cloud State's Club team at 7:35.
 

Nov. 21, 2003 - The Blazers (2-2-1) tie the Bethel Royals (0-1-1) 2-2.  In the first period CSB's sophomore Lisa Bush scored a short handed goal.
 

Nov. 15, 2003 - The Blazers (2-2-0) beat Hamline(0-2-0) 3-2.  The first and third periods were scoreless.  During the second period senior Anne Sawyer scored the first goal of the game.
 

CSB hockey searches for improvement

The Record Nov. 20, 2003 - The Blazer hockey team ended last season with a record of 4-18-2 while finishing eighth in the MIAC. Although last season was disappointing, this season’s team has the potential and talent to become one of the elites in the MIAC.
 

Nov. 14, 2003 - The Blazers(1-2-0) lost to UW-River Falls(3-3-0) 4-0.  CSB had a hard fought battle with the Falcons.  Each team received four penalties.  Senior Kate Hall had 32 saves out of 36 shots on goal.
 

Nov. 6, 2003 - The Blazers(1-1 overall) beat Hamline(0-1 overall) 5-1.  First year Sarah Anderson opened the game with the first goal. First year Stephanie Gassert contributed a goal during the first period.  Junior Susan Engle went on to shoot two goals.  Engle had a goal in the first period and her second in the third.  Junior Amy Glaeser put a shot in the net during the third period.  Saint Ben's home, conference opener will be Fri., Nov 14, 2003 against UW-Riverfalls at 7:30.
 

Nov. 5, 2003 - Tonight the Blazers(0-1 overall) lost their season opener 5-1 to Saint Thomas(1-0 overall).  First year Sarah Wilson scored a short handed goal in the final period.  Senior Kate Hall had 31 saves with 36 shots on goal.  Saint Ben's will play tomorrow, Nov. 8, 2003, at 2 p.m. against Hamline.
 

Oct. 20, 2003 - Head Coach Dave Laliberte welcomed his team to onto the ice today.  The hockey team started practicing today at 3:45 at the St. Cloud Municipal Athletic Complex.  The season opener will be on Fri. Nov. 7, 2003 hosted by St. Thomas at 7 p.m.
 

Dave Laliberte Named New CSB Head Hockey Coach
