2004-05 Season Review: "Step by Step"

The 04-05 Blazer Hockey team had its fourth losing season in a row. There were a lot of bright sports for the Blazers, which are still evolving as a hockey program. Young talent from the eight first-year players on the roster added depth and may help the program progress in future seasons. The Blazers finished the season (7-16-0) overall and (7-11-0) in coference play, which placed them sixxth in the final MIAC standings. Senior Susan Engel was selected to the All-MIAC team and became the second Blazer hockey player to be named to the All-Conference team three seasons.

Engel's conference stats include a tie for 11th in point scoring and a tie for 12th in goals scored with 11 on the year. Engel also received MIAC Hockey athlete of the week on Feb. 14th after skating to a six point weekend performance against Hamline. Engel scored three goals, two of which ended up to be game winning goals, and also assisted in three goals allowing Saint Ben's to pick up the weekend series sweep of Hamline.

Sophomore Erin Baldwin was another Blazer hockey athlete that earned much success on the ice during the 04-05 season. Baldwin was an All-MIAC honorable mention, was tied for 14th in point scoring in the MIAC, and also put three game winning goals through the pipes for Saint Ben's.
