Blazers Fall to Tommies, 4-1

01/19/2008

The University of St. Thomas overcame the College of Saint Benedict 4-1 at the away game in Mendota Heights. The Blazers played hard and never gave up but the Tommies still prevailed.

The Blazers strong defense killed 10 of UST’s 11 power plays over the weekend series. CSB’s offense made 45 shots in the two days.

UST’s Jill Kobow started off the game with a goal 1:08 into the first period. The Blazers then held them off until 10:15 in the second when opponent Jackie Carroll was able to score.

St Thomas’ Kelley Fallen opened up the third with a goal.  32 seconds later, CSB’s Patty King scored off an assist from Amanda Trusty to cancel the previous point.

The Blazers’ Amanda Plumm made 34 saves but with 11:32 left in the third, Marie Omann passed it to Jamie Hollway and they snuck it by for the last goal of the game.

The Blazers are now looking forward to their home game at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 25 against Augsburg.
