Playing three hockey games in three days took a toll on the Blazers.
Saint Benedict (3-5 overall) was defeated 3-0 at hands of Lindenwood (Mo.) who took the exhibition series sweep with the victory.
The two teams skated to a draw in the first period, but Lindenwood came out shooting in the second period.
Kat Hannah scored the Lions’ first goal on a power play and Natalie Larsen added another goal later in the period.
The Blazers tried to get on the attack in the final period, but Lindenwood’s sophomore goaltender Becca Bernet answered by recording seven saves.
Lindenwood scored an empty-net goal in the closing seconds of the game and Bernet sealed the shutout win.
Junior goaltender Sarah Bancroft recorded 22 saves to lead the Blazers.
Saint Benedict will play Trinity College (Conn.) 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12 at Torrey Arena.
