The College of Saint Benedict Blazers (3-2 MIAC, 4-4-0) was defeated by Bethel University (3-3 MIAC, 4-4-1) 3-1 on Saturday, Dec. 8 at the MAC in St. Cloud, Minn.
The game was well played between both teams and the momentum went back and forth.
The Blazers’ Gretchen Leyendecker (Rochester, Minn.) scored on a power play at 15:45 of the second period, assisted by Ashley Davenport (Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) and Janae Coauette (Crookston, Minn.) to give the Blazers a 1-0 lead. The Blazers out-shot the Royals 12 to 11 this period.

But Bethel scored three goals in the third period to win.
Bethel used a power play talley from Bethany Murphy, who got control of a loose puck within five feet of the goal, to tie the score 1-1. The Royals’ Sandra Felten then scored two consecutive goals 40 seconds apart, one off a power play and one at even strength.
The Blazers did not have enough time to answer in the end.
The Blazers play St. Olaf in a makeup game at 7:05 p.m. Jan. 4 at the Northfield Ice Arena. The game, originally scheduled Dec. 1, was postponed due to a snow storm.
