It was a game that the College of Saint Benedict will look to build off. The women's hockey team dropped its second game of the season to the University of Wisconsin Superior by a final score of 9-0 on Saturday afternoon. The Blazers skated hard but appeared to be overmatched by the fifth ranked Yellowjackets. Superior cruises to a 5-0-0 start with the sweep of the two game set, while the Blazers remain searching for their first victory of the young season.
The Blazers could not generate any type of offensive attack for the second night in a row, while the Yellowjackets held a convincing lead in the shot department 37-5. In the two game set against the University of Wisconsin Superior the Blazers were out shot 74-15. First-year goaltender Erica Hartel (Manitoba, Canada / Virden Collegiate
Institute) was pulled by head coach Pat Michaud after allowing five Yellowjacket goals in the first period. Hartel was replaced by last nights starting goaltender Sarah Zweber (White Bear Lake, Minn. / White Bear Lake). Zweber finished out the game in the net for the Blazers
The College of Saint Benedict women's hockey team will spend the next week preparing to battle east of the border. The Blazers travel to the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire on Saturday November 11th for a 2 p.m. face-off. They will finish out the road trip against ranked opponent University of Wisconsin Stevens Point on Sunday at 4 p.m.
