2004-2005 Highlights

Blazers Finish 6th at Minnesota Collegiate State Meet

April 23-24, 2005 - This weekend the Blazer golf team competed in the Minnesota Collegiate State Meet held at Pebble Creek Golf Club. CSB placed sixth overall as a team finishing with a two-day score of 712. Sophomore Meg O'Neill (Kasson) led the Blazers finishing with a tie for 18th place. O'Neill shot 92 on the first day of competition and improved by 12 strokes to shoot an 80 on the second day finishing with a two-day score of 172. Junior Kaley Kosak (Grand Rapids) landed in a tie for 21st place. This weekend marked the competion of the Blazers' short spring season.

Blazers Place 4th at Carleton Invitational

April 16-17, 2005 - The Blazer golf team competed in the Carleton Invitational this weekend in Northfield. Sophomore Meg O'Neill (Kasson) and junior Megan Sand (Albany) tied for 10th pace overall shooting a two-day score of 172. The Blazers finished in 4th place as a team with an overall score of 716. St. Thomas came in first place with a team score of 662. The Blazers will compete in their last match of the spring season next weekend at the Minnesota Collegiate State Meet.

Blazers Ranked 15th on Division III Women's Golf Coaches Poll

Oct. 20, 2004 - The Blazer golf team was recently ranked number 15 in the National Golf Coaches Association/Division III Coaches poll. Saint Ben's finished in third place at this year's MIAC Championships, behind Gustavus and St. Thomas. Gustavus was ranked fifth and St. Thomas eighth in the poll.

CSB|SJU Golf Finish Strong in the MIAC

Both St. John's and St. Ben's golf teams had impressive seasons that were achieved through hard work and consistency. St. John's golf headed into the season with an experienced group of returnees and placed in the top three at every meet they competed in. Bemidji, Eau Claire and the MIAC championships were the meets in which St. John's took home 1st place. The MIAC championship was a tough meet for St. John's who found themselves in 3rd place after the first day of competition...Full Story

Blazers Finish in Third Place at 2004 MIAC Championships

Oct. 9-10, 2004 - This weekend the Blazer golf team swung into a third place finish at the MIAC Championships played at Willinger's Golf Club in Northfield. Saint Ben's was just two strokes off the lead after Saturday's round, but dropped down to third after the second day. The Blazers finished behind St. Thomas and Gustavus. The Blazers  posted team scores of 344-355 for a two day total of 699. Junior Kaley Kosak (Grand Rapids/Grand Rapids H.S.) posted a 77 on Saturday, one stroke off her school record of 76. She finished with an 88 on Sunday and took third place overall. Junior golfer Megan Sand (Albany/Albany) and first-year golfer Heath Fuchs (Paynesville/Paynesville H.S.) finished in a three-way tie for ninth place overall with a two-day total of 175. Sand Finishes 2nd, Leads Blazers to 1st Place

Oct. 3, 2004 - The Blazer golf team held on to take home a first place finish at their very own Blazer Invitational played at Greystone Golf Club. CSB posted team scores of 346-349 to finish with 695. St. Thomas and Gustavus both tied for second with a team score of 700. Junior Megan Sand (Albany/Albany H.S.) posted a second round score of 80, which gave her a two-day score of 164 and a second place finish. Junior Kaley Kosak (Grand Rapids/Grand Rapids H.S.) finished in fourth place with a two-day total of 166. Breanne Staples from Gustavus took first place overall in the tournament. Blazers in First Place After Day One of Blazer Invitational

Oct. 2, 2004 - Saint Ben's is in first place after day one of the Blazer Invitational played at Greystone Golf Club. The Blazers posted a team score of 346, 12 points ahead of second place Saint Thomas who finished with a team score of 358. Junior Megan Sand (Albany/Albany H.S.) and first-year golfer Heather Fuchs (Paynesville/Paynesville H.S.) both shot rounds of 84 and are tied for first place. Blazer Golfer Sets School Record

Sept. 30, 2004 - The St. Ben's golf team has focused on their game and has experienced early success, which they hope to carry with them throughout the rest of the season.  Junior captain Kaley Kosak has played her way into the record books as well as established herself as one of the top golfers in the MIAC ... Blazers Swing to 3rd Place Finish at UST Midwest Classic

Sept. 25-26, 2004 - The Blazer golf team took home a third place finish in this weekend's University of St. Thomas Midwest Classic played at Owatonna Country Club. The Blazers posted team scores of 371-355 for a two day total of 726. Junior golfer Kaley Kosak (Grand Rapids/Grand Rapids H.S.) landed in 10th place overall shooting rounds of 89-87 for a 176 total. Junior Megan Sand (Albany/Albany H.S.) finished in 11th place posting scores of 89-88 for a total of 177. The Blazers are back in action next weekend as they host their own Blazer Invitational at Greystone Golf Course in Sauk Centre ... Stats

Kosak Named MIAC Golfer of the Week

Sept. 14, 2004 - Junior golfer Kaley Kosak (Grand Rapids/Grand Rapids H.S.) was named MIAC Golfer of the Week after setting  new 18- and 36-hole school scoring records, firing a first-round four-over par 76 and a 153 total in finishing second at the Concordia Invitational last weekend. Her 18 hole scores of 76 and 77 are the two lowest rounds in St. Benedict history. Her scores helped lead the Blazers to a sixth-place finish with two-day score of 673, best among MIAC schools.  Kosak shot an 81 in Friday's Cobber Open, helping the Blazers set a new 18-hole team record of 328 in tying for first place and placing her seventh individually.

Kosak Breaks School Record, Leads Blazers to 6th Place Finish

Sept. 12, 2004 - This weekend the Blazer golf team competed in the Concordia Invitational played at Wildflower Golf Club. Junior Kaley Kosak (Grand Rapids/Grand Rapids H.S.) shot rounds of 76-77 to break her own school record of 78 set last year. This landed her in second place overall. CSB posted team scores of 328-345 for a total of 673 and a tie for sixth place overall, with only Division One and Two teams finishing ahead of them... Full Story

Blazer Golfers Break School Record, Tie For 1st at Cobber Open

Sept. 10, 2004 - Today the Blazer golf team shot a team score of 328, a new school record, to tie for first place with the University of North Dakota at the Cobber Open at Wildflower Golf Club. The Fighting Sioux claimed the team title due to the strength of their fifth golfer. First-year golfer Heather Fuchs (Paynesville/Paynesville H.S.) and junior Kaley Kosak (Grand Rapids/Grand Rapids H.S.) tied for seventh place individually shooting scores of 81. Junior Megan Sand (Albany/Albany H.S.) came in right behind posting an 82 for the round. Saint Ben's will continue to play rounds on Saturday and Sunday in the Concordia Invitational...Stats

Blazer Golf Tees off Season

The Record Sept. 9, 2004 - The Blazer Golf team has never placed first in the MIAC, a fact that this year's team wants to change heading into the season.
The Blazers are a young team with only three returning players who include juniors Megan Sand, Kaley Kosak and Megan Ellenbecker. Sand and Kosak are also co-captains ... Full Story

Blazers Finish 7th at UW-Eau Claire Invitational

Sept. 5, 2004 - The Blazer golf team finished in seventh place out of a field of 14 teams this weekend at the UW-Eau Claire Invitational played on Saturday at Mill Run Golf Course and Sunday at Wild Ridge Golf Course. Saint Ben's had a total team score of 716. First-year Heather Fuchs led CSB finishing tied for tenth place overall posting scores of 87- 82 for a total of 169. Juniors Megan Sand and Kaley Kosak each posted scores of 180 for the tournament. The Blazers are next in action this coming Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Concordia Invitational ... Stats
