1994-1995 Season Review

Since the intercollegiate golf season is short, but intense, the team that has individuals playing throughout the summer is usually the most prepared for competition. A year ago the Saint Ben’s golf team slipped from third place to fourth place in the MIAC Championships, but this past fall CSB battled back for a two-way tie with Gustavus for third place. The fall portion of the season included other fine performances, such as the third-place finishes at the Northern State Invitational and the University Minnesota-Morris Invitational.

First-year golfers Kristin Moris, Lake Elmo, Minn., and Erin Connell, Luverne, Minn., played steady and made significant contributions to the team.

During the spring season, the Blazer golfers finished in eighth place among a field of 10 teams in the Minnesota Collegiate Women’s State Meet, held in Roseville.

With the loss of a pair of seniors, third-year head coach Theresa Solarz will need to rely on the team’s youth and experience to step up in the 1995-96 season.

10th place finish in Small college championships in Waverly, IA at Wartburg College. (up from 12th last year) sophomore Kristin Moris had to withdraw, Erin Connell led the team with a two-day total 0f 191. Tied for 3rd in the MIAC tournament 9th of 16 at Blazer/Husky Invitational, 12th of 17 at Mankato Inv.( Mank. was a spring meet)
