Last fall, for the first time ever, women's golf was officially recognized as a sponsored intercollegiate sport in the MIAC. A handful of schools have offered women's golf to its students for several years, however last fall marked the first time the conference decided there were enough teams to offer a season ending championship.
The Blazers tuned up for the conference championship meet at the St. Olaf Invitational (fifth place among eight teams) and the Mankato State Invitational 9ninth among 12 teams ) during the fall regular season.
When the two-day 36-hole MIAC Championships got underway at the Mankato Country Club the Blazers were ready. CSB carded an 802 and placed fifth out of nine conference schools competing in the tournament. Sophomore Susan Bins, Edina, MN, came within four strokes of the winning top individual honors. She shot a 181 and placed sixth overall.
This spring, the golf team dusted off its clubs and teed it up to finish seventh in the Minnesota Women's Collegiate Golf Association state meet held at the Moorhead Country Club and to defeat St. Cloud State University in a dual match. Senior Robin Conner, Alexandria, MN, was the team's low scorer in both meets.
