Blazer Golf Team "Warms Up" for Conference Play

The Blazer golf team continue to see steady improvement in their play after their performance at the Saint Cloud Country Club today. The Blazers dueled it out with the Saint Cloud State Huskies down to the wire, but the Huskies nudged the Blazers and took the win by scoring 360 over the Blazers score of 363.

Coach Pat Michaud mentioned, “They were playing in tough conditions, but was able to see steady improvement. It was not a great scoring day; however this is great experience for us. The course was like a ‘warm up’ for next weeks conference play at Bunker Hills.”

First-year Sarah Hupperts (North Oaks, Minn. /Mounds View) stood out for the Blazer team by scoring a team high 87, tying Saint Cloud State’s Lee Zutz for the top score of the day. “Sarah has been playing great this season, and she broke through today.” Michaud said. Sophomore, April Dammann (Glencoe, Minn./ Glencoe Silver Lake) finished with  90, sophomore Teresa Walch (Zumbrota, Minn./ Zumbrota-Mazeppa) shot a 92, while juniors Ann Dressen (Alexandria, Minn./ Jefferson) and Leigh Bartholomew (Lake Elmo, Minn./ Stillwater Area) both finished with a 94.

The Blazers will continue play Oct 6-8 in Coon Rapids, MN for the conference championship.
