09/23/2007

The Blazer golf team finished the Carleton Invitational today by placing a very respectable fifth place out of fifteen teams. Windy conditions made the last few holes difficult to play, however the Blazers finished within the top five of the invitational.

Head coach Pat Michaud had nothing but positive comments after this weekends invite, “We got beat by the powerhouses of Division three schools in the Midwest, being Gustavus, Saint Thomas, Wartburg and Luther, but we finished ahead of everyone else, which is definitely great to finish in the top five.” Junior Ann Dressen (Alexandria, Minn./Jefferson) finished on top for the Blazers by shooting a second round score of 91, giving her a tie for 15th place overall with a two day total of 176. Junior Leigh Bartholomew (Lake Elmo, Minn./Stillwater Area) finished with a two day score of 185, placing tied for 35th overall and first-year Sarah Hupperts (North Oaks, Minn./Mounds View) continues to show off her talent by shooting a total of 188. Coach Michaud continued to say, “We are emerging as a contender among Division three schools in the Midwest.”
