Feb. 5, 2005 - Sophomore Darby Noreen (Avon/Albany) scored a game-high 24 points and pulled
down nine rebounds to lead the Saint Ben's (16-3, 13-3 MIAC) to a 82-64 victory over visiting St. Thomas (8-11, 6-9 MIAC). The Blazers grabbed an early lead and pulled ahead by as many as 20 points in the first half. CSB held the Tommies to 24 percent shooting in the first half and controlled a 40-22 advantage going into the locker room at halftime.
The Tommies got back within nine points with eight minutes to go, but the Blazers were able to secure their lead for the rest of the game. Saint Ben's shot 47 percent from the field for the game and held a 44-32 rebound advantage over St. Thomas.
The Tommies were led by junior Erica Opldahl who scored 19 points. Junior Anna Heikenen (Edina/Edina) added 17 points for the Blazers, while senior Tara Schloe (St. Cloud/Apollo) knocked in nine points.
The Blazers, currently in second place in the MIAC standings, travel to face a tough St. Mary's team on Monday. Tip-off is 7:30 p.m.
