1994-1995 Season Review

With four returning starters, the Blazer basketball team (19-7 overall, 14-6 MIAC fourth place) equaled, and even surpassed many of their pre-season expectations by capturing their second conference title in three years, and their third championship in seven seasons. CSB returned to the "Sweet 16" round of NCAA Tournament for the fourth year in a row, and after advancing to the "Elite Eight" came within two points of returning to the "NCAA Final Four."

Under the direction of ninth-year head coach Mike Durbin CSB posted their eighth consecutive season with 20-wins or more and received their seventh straight invite to the NCAA Tournament. Highlights of the season included a Blazer/Holiday Inn Christmas championship by defeating Central College, winning at Concordia-Moorhead (the third time in four years) and knocking off Aurora College by 34 points in the NCAA Tourney. Senior Tina Kampa, St. Cloud, Minn., became the first CSB athlete to post over 1,000 kills in volleyball and 1,000 points in basketball during her four year tenure.

The Blazers graduate three outstanding seniors, but return two starters and several quality players for the 1995-96 season.
