In the future, all Blazer basketball team swill be compared to the 1992-93 edition which won a conference championship and made their first-ever appearance in the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball National Championships. CSB won their first 28 games of the season, which included a 25-0 record during the regular season and an unbeaten MIAC mark of 20-0. The Blazers final mark of 28-2 is the best record in the schools history. CSB has won 20 games or more the last six years and qualified for the NCAA Regional Tournament five times in a row.
After extending their home winning streak to 21 games, CSB downed St. Thomas, Marymound and Concordia-Moorhead in from the three home sellouts in the NCAA Tournament. The Blazers then traveled to the Final Four in Pella, Iowa and lost in semi-finals to Central College, 60-59, on a hear-stopping last second shot. The Blazers then lost the third place game to Scranton College (pa.) 89-69 to finish fourth in the nation.
Senior Kelly Mahlum, Sacred Heart, MN, became CSB's second ever Kodak All-American, and the Blazers second all-time leading scorer. Senior Lynn Nielsen, Rosemount, MN became CSB's sixth player to score 1,000 points or more during their collegiate career and head coach Mike Durbin was recognized as MIAC, District 8 and Converse National Division III Coach of the Year.
