2003-2004 Season Review

The Blazers were expected to have a re-building year after loosing two key players from last year’s squad.  However, CSB continued its winning ways by once again sharing the MIAC titles and earning the first seed in the conference playoffs.

Saint Ben’s started off the season with an impressive seven-game winning streak, and they finished the year with only three conference losses (19-3) and an overall record of 21-5.

In the MIAC semi-finals, CSB faced off against Concordia-Moorhead and put their 25 game home court winning streak on the line. The Cobber’s upset the number one seeded Blazers and moved on in to the MIAC Championship game against Carleton.

It was a monumental year for head coach Mike Durbin as he recorded his 400th win of his coaching career with an 83-52 win over long time rival St. Thomas midway through the season.  Senior Ashley Brown also closed off her individual career with a pair of individual achievements.  She became the 14th player in Blazer history to score 1,000 points in her career (1,056) and also broke the record for most three point baskets made for a career with 186.

Sophomore Anna Heikenen and junior Kim Johnson were named to the All-MIAC all-conference team for the first times in their careers and Ashley Brown was named honorable mention All-MIAC for the third time in her career.
