I. Athletic Department Philosophy and Objectives

A. Athletic Department of the College of Saint Benedict Mission Statement:
Our purpose as a women’s athletic department serving female student athletes is to:
1. Provide each woman with a competitive intercollegiate experience.
2. Challenge her physical, intellectual, emotional, social and spiritual growth in a way that values community, self and holistic development.
3. Empower her to achieve enhanced self-esteem and leadership skills so that she enjoys success both within and beyond her athletic experience.

B. College of Saint Benedict Athletic Department Vision
Our vision is:
1. To be “among the best” in athletic/recreation facilities in the MIAC and NCAA Division III that supports excellence and opportunity
2. To be “among the best” in providing services that support the welfare of our student-athletes, with a commitment to transformational leadership and the development of the “whole” person.
3. To increase the positive image, success and visibility of our college through a high level of performance in our athletic programs.

C. College of Saint Benedict Athletic Program Objectives
1. To support and reflect the Mission Statement of the College of Saint Benedict and specifically the division of Student Development.
2. To provide a quality program of women’s intercollegiate athletics, complementing the liberal arts education aims and objectives.
3. To provide a competitive program of women’s intercollegiate athletics based upon the needs, interests and capabilities of the students.
4. To actively recruit student athletes who have the commitment and ability to participate successfully in a liberal arts education and abide by principles of fair play and amateur athletics competition.
5. To stay knowledgeable in current trends, techniques and information in each coach’s area of expertise.
6. To fully comply with NCAA Division III and MIAC philosophy and governing rules, supporting high standards of sportsmanship and ethical conduct.
