National Eating Disorders Awareness Week promoted
CSB/SJU Counseling & Health Promotion staff and peer educators collaborated on a series of programs to promote awareness of eating disorders and body image issues in observation of National Eating Disorders Awareness Week (NEDA).
The week of programming, "Everybody KNOWS Somebody," was conducted Feb. 24-28. During NEDA week, peer educators facilitated informational booths to provide students with information and resources about eating disorders and healthy body image. Peer educators led a mindful eating workshop that promoted balanced eating and awareness, and hosted a screening and discussion of the documentary "America the Beautiful." The documentary is a commentary on the American perspective of beauty and body image. Finally, two of our psychologists, Dr. Angella Kocian and Dr. Laura Sherr, facilitated a yoga for positive body image session.
