2. Meeting Report

I wanted to begin by thanking everyone for reading the lengthy documents that I sent out.  I would like to give you an up-date on what I will be doing in the near future.  We will be having a one on one session with me and each of you senators.  Over the next week or two, think about what you would like to accomplish as a senator.  Think about your goals that you want to implement.

In the past there has been a President’s award.  This is acknowledging an outstanding senator.   I would like to make this a frequent award that is given out.  If you see an individual go above and beyond for their position please let me know.  I would like to give this week’s award to Treasurer Katie Hansen.  She did an exceptional job on the budget.  She developed these awesome pie charts that break down the budget.

I will now accept any comments or questions.

C. Advisors Report

I would like to add my thanks for the successful retreat.  I appreciate that everyone was present and participating.  I hope that your first few days of classes have gone well.  You need to find a balance and manage your time between class and senate.  Thank you.  (Terhaar)

I would like to let you know that my office is over at SJU in room 362E.  If you want to stop by I am there from 11- 5.  I second what Advisor Terhaar said about the retreat.  (Esch)

R. St. John’s Senate

I don’t have a whole lot new to add.  Please draw your attention another e-mail that went out to inform students of the up-dates on the current health issues.  Not only the H1N1 but just any type of flu.  We don’t have confirmation about any students having the H1N1 virus.  Familiarize yourself with the material.  Stop rumors that may be floating around.  Send students with questions to refer to the e-mail.  There are names at the bottom that state names that individuals can contact with questions.

Senator Gresback – Is there any way that they could make a formal statement to encourage students to stay home if they are ill?

Terhaar- The message states that if people are sick to stay home.  Faculty was informed to allow students to stay home and not be punished.  If the faculty does not cooperate, go to department chair or Academic Advising

D. Treasurers Report

I have been working on details about the budget.  I passed out a copy of the lovely pie charts that I have made for you.  (Description of the pie chart images). (K. Hansen)

Senator Burgason – Do you plan to publish this?

Treasurer K. Hansen – I did not think of that, but I will speak with Public Relations Represenative about doing that.

E. St John’s Senate

(Up-dates on new position changes amongst the Saint John’s Senators)

Vice President Peichel – Thank you.  We look forward to continue to work with you.

F. Comments or Questions

Vice President Peichel – I make a Motion that we move into Executive Session.
