Emily Bina's Platform

Hello! My name is Emily Bina, and I am a first-year communication major who is running for re-election for the Vice President position. I ran after my first semester here, and fell completely in love. I have put hours into my senate career already, and would be honored to continue my work in this position.

Saint Ben’s, as I’m sure every Bennie agrees, not only encourages, but requires passion. The blessing we all have to be able to attend this school is something I remind myself of daily, and continue to seek this passion in the administrators, faculty and students who surround me.

While on senate this semester I was on the Civic Engagement Committee, which helped plan a very successful Day at the Capitol and also got newspapers on campus, plus I co-chaired my own Joint Senate Committee which emphasized better communication between the two senates. I took a leadership role in getting new and contemporary women’s books on campus, and have constantly lent my help for tasks that have seemed too overwhelming for one senator to handle.

On campus I am very involved; I am a student worker in the Communication and Marketing Services Department, I write for the sports section of The Record, I am in Benedictine Friends, BUZZED Crew, Journey Group, French Club, Global Aids Awareness and I am the student blogger for the CSB and SJU website. I also run track and field, and pretend to have a social life.

I am very organized, to the point where I find joy in cleaning my room and reorganizing a notebook. I like to keep other people on task, but realize that there is always the need for flexibility and understanding. I am approachable and well-spoken, and can bring a sense of professionalism to any situation. Above all, I feel overjoyed to be running for senate again, and hope that my passion for this group is evident.

Thank you very much for your time, and please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns!
