Q. Advisors Report

I would like to add my thanks for the successful retreat.  I appreciate that everyone was present and participating.  I hope that your first few days of classes have gone well.  You need to find a balance and manage your time between class and senate.  Thank you.  (Terhaar)

I would like to let you know that my office is over at SJU in room 362E.  If you want to stop by I am there from 11- 5.  I second what Advisor Terhaar said about the retreat.  (Esch)

R. St. John’s Senate

Hello senators.  I am the Judicial Board Chair of the SJU Senate.   We have recently adopted our 2009-10 goals.  Motions were tabled for a better examination of them.  A motion was made to change the meeting time limit from three hours to two.  It passed with a 10-6 vote.  We also are creating the Johnnie t-shirts for Johnnie day.  If you have any questions I am open to them.

S. Comments or Questions

Senator Finley – Just to let you know we sold green and yellow t-shirts at Involvement Fair.  We also sold the purple shirts.  We had 244 sales put on valedines alone.  That grossed $1220.

Trustee Hauff – I wanted to let a few Senators know that I have something for them after the meeting about the Borard of Trustees.  These people include Senators Anna, Tiffany, Kelci, Katie H. and Alison.

Senator Burgason - Please clarify which Anna?

Trustee Hauff - Martin

IV.             New Business

A.  Motion to allocate no more than $13,800 to the Collegiate Leadership Program with exact percentages funding based upon tenth day enrollment. (Gresback)

Moved (Gresback) Second (Sperl)

Senator Gresback - I have passed out sheets that further describe the motion.  It is simply the agreement that we made at retreat.  There are two stipulations that include:

1. Shift focus on marketing and recycling.  Nothing is written in stone.

2. Measure our outcome.

With the fluctuations in tuition the amount allocated will be different than SJU.  We will know after the 10th day of class.

Allocations Chair Sperl - The reason we will be allocating a different amount than SJU is that we have more students.  Currently it is 52%(CSB)-48%(SJU) and that may change.

Senators Andreason - I know we had a lot of conversation about this at the retreat and I thought it was great to get everything on the table.  I’m glad it includes marketing.

Advisor Esch – I suggest that we make the faculty aware about the marketing tactic. Especially inform the FYS professors.

0910-008 Motion to allocate no more than $13,800 to the Collegiate Leadership Program with exact percentages funding based upon tenth day enrollment.

0910-008 Passes with a vote of 15-1.

B. 0910-0089 Motion to dissolve the joint senate committee.

Moved (Peichel) Second (K. Hansen)

Vice President Peichel - I wanted to make this motion about what we discussed at the retreat.  Just to reiterate what we will be doing.  We will be dissolving the joint senate committee.  We will now have a meeting with the SJU executive board once a month.   If you have any questions, please ask.

0910-009 Motion to dissolve the joint senate committee.

0910-009 Passes with a vote of 16-0.

V.                Announcements

a. Kip Fulbeck will be presenting tomorrow, Thursday, September 3rd, at 7:30 pm in Petters Auditorium.  The Senate is invited to the Reception and Gallery from 5:30 pm until 6:30 pm in the BAC courtyard. Senators are strongly encouraged to attend both events.

VI.             Adjournment

Move to adjourn (Reiner) Second (Reilly) Meeting adjourned at 5:20 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,
