Hi, my name is Lateisha Lewis, and I am originally from the Bahamas. I am a junior majoring in accounting and finance and I am running for the position of Treasurer in the St. Ben’s Senate. Drawing on my past experiences here on campus, I now know the uniqueness of St. Ben’s and why it is such a distinguished college. This institution strives to uphold the interests and basic rights of all of its students. More specifically, one goal is to provide the best student experience, whether it be socially, academically or cultural. Having completed three years, I feel that I am in the best position to contribute to the St. Ben’s society. I believe in the potential present in us all and that we women have more to contribute to society than we realize. The position of Treasurer, or for that matter, any position in the senate takes a lot of dedication and hard work from committed students. If given the opportunity to serve on the CSB senate, I will make it my duty and responsibility to sustain the mission and vision of CSB. I am fully prepared to become an outlet for student body about the various facets of this community. I know that it is important for the views and opinions of students to be expressed to the administration, and faculty and vice versa.
CSB Senate would be a great opportunity for me expand my accounting and finance skills. The duties of the Treasurer include: supervision and documentation of all revenues and expenditure of the SBS, preparations of financial statements and annual budgets, and the like. I would be able to apply the knowledge I attained from my classes to properly carry out the duties of Treasurer. In the past, I have held the position as Financial Officer in one of my extra-curricular activities and I know that that endeavor will only help me to be a better senator.
My ambitious and determined nature makes me the right choice for Treasurer. I treat others with respect and admiration and these values are vital when working within a larger group. I am also a team player and I would love to be a part of an influential and successful group that the CSB Senate represents.
