Attend Open House on February 10 and 12 this is an evening in which volunteers from the sophomore halls and the campus apartments and houses open their doors so that each rising cohort can go and check out their options around campus.  You can see what set ups of each building has to offer, how do the rooms/apartments differ, where's the computer lab etc.  We have Residential Life Staff on hand to answer questions about the halls as well as programs related to topics surronding the room selection process.  Take advantage of this evening and check out your on campus housing options thoroughly so that the night of room selection you can have several good plans in place for rooms/apartments you would like to select.

Who Participates in Room Selection?

Any student who wants to live on campus for fall semester should participate in room selection.

Note for Fall 2009 Study Abroad Participants: If you are studying abroad for fall semester 2009, you DO NOT need to participate in room selection. We will contact you later this spring to make housing arrangements for when you return from abroad. Talk to your friends you would like to live with after room selection so that you can work out a "switch" with someone going abroad in the Spring! You will be able to make a request for this space when we send out information to you.  We will have an information session during the Apartment Open House on February 12th should you have any questions for our staff.

Residency Requirement

Remember that all current first year students (those who began college in Fall of 2008) are required to live on campus during the 2009-2010 academic year. This is determined by your cohort group (the year you began at CSB) not your class standing (FR, SO, JN, SR).

Selection Numbers

Room Selection numbers will be assigned to students randomly within their respective cohort groups.  Your cohort group is the group of students who began college in the same year.  For example, the rising senior cohort group will be comprised of all students who began college in the fall of 2006, the rising junior cohort group will be comprised of all students who began college for the first time in the fall of 2007 and the rising sophomore group will be comprised of the students who began college for the first time this fall (in 2008).   Numbers will be assigned randomly within each cohort so that all rising seniors have an equal opportunity at senior housing, which is also true for the juniors and sophomores respectively.  Should you have any questions about this please talk to your Residence Director (RD) or contact the Department of Residential Life at ext. 5580 or housinginfo@csbsju.edu.

Students who next year will be:

  • Fifth year students (those who started at CSB in the 2005-2006 academic year) get the first selection numbers.
  • Fourth year students (those who started at CSB in the 2006-2007 academic year) get the next group of selection numbers. Sometimes referenced as "Rising Seniors"
  • Third year students (those who started at CSB in the 2007-2008 academic year) get the third group of selection numbers. Sometimes referenced as "Rising Juniors"
  • Second year students (those who started at CSB in the 2008-2009 academic year) get the fourth group of numbers. Sometimes referenced as "Rising Sophomores"

Students who have transferred to CSB will be placed into a cohort as if they had begun at CSB as a first year student.
