Sophomore Year Experience

The Sophomore Year Experience (SYE) program at the College of Saint Benedict provides programming designed to address issues and challenges commonly faced by students in their second year.  Programs occur once a month and focus on what we know about sophomores:  they are experiencing harder classes, stress and excitement from choosing a major, decisions about studying abroad, and they are personalizing beliefs and values.  The College of Saint Benedict houses students by cohort, so sophomores live and learn in community with one another.

While the calendar of programs changes due to student needs and innovation, we consistently provide the following programs for our sophomores:

    • Sophomore Getaway Weekend (held off-campus before school begins)
    • Welcome Back Week Events (including the unveiling of the SYE shirt)
    • Convocation
    • Second Year, Second Soccer Game
    • Sophomore Wisdom Panel
    • Advising and Internships Panel
    • Study Abroad Resource Night
    • Mystery Bus Adventure
    • Apartments Open House
    • Transfer Student Orientation
    • Choosing A Major Information Sessions
    • “Half-Way There” Formal Dinner with the President
