What is it?
The Health and Wellness communities are substance free communities that begin in one of the first year halls. Over time they have developed into living communities of women who focus holistically on creating healthy lifestyles by developing the areas of intellectual, physical, emotional, spiritual, environmental and social wellness.
How does it work?
There are two student advisors for the communities; one organizes events for the first year and sophomore communities and is typically a sophomore member, the other organizes events for the junior and senior communities and is typically a member of one of those communities as well.
How do I apply? The women living in the first year area are placed together by residential life. If you have not already indicated an interested on your housing form, please email us at housinginfo@csbsju.edu. In their sophomore, junior and senior years community members apply for an intentional living community through the room selection process and request the location of their community in those areas. The 2009-2010 academic year will be the 3rd year that CSB has had communities in all four classes.
What sort of things do we do?
The student advisors for the communities plan several events and activities throughout the year for the community members. These events and activities include: Combined Events, Casual Activities, and the Mentorship Program. Please use the links for more information. None of the events for the community are mandatory.
Members of the Health and Wellness communities tell me that they have made friendships that last throughout their time at CSB. Many live together all four years that they are here and stay in touch after they graduate. If you would like to talk to any of the current first year members about their experience and some of the things they do let me know and I will get you in touch with them.
Sincerely,
Shelby Wentworth
