Staff Bios

Julie Phillips, Aurora Hall (FYE) RD:

Julie PhilipsJulie earned B.S. in Human Services from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. She also attended Colorado State University and earned a M.S. in Student Affairs in Higher Education. Julie comes to the College of Saint Benedict after spending two and half years in China and South Korea teaching English. She is excited to be working with college students in a residential setting again. Julie’s interests include traveling anywhere and everywhere, engaging people in interesting conversations, and educating herself and others about sustainable living and environmental issues.

Maryke Taute, Corona & Regina Halls (FYE) RD:

Maryke TauteMaryke completed her undergraduate degree in psychology at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin. From there, Maryke pursued her Master's Degree in College Student Personnel Administration at the University of Central Missouri. In her free time Maryke likes to check things off her life list. Her goals range from milking a cow, to riding a motorcycle, to  seeing all 50 states.


 

Krissy Petersen, Brian & Margretta Halls (SYE) RD: 

Krissy PetersenKrissy graduated from Northern Michigan University in 2005 with her B.S. in Public Relations and Writing. After working in the "real world" for a couple of years she realized that her heart was still in college and the field of student affairs, so she returned to school for her Master's Degree. She completed her M.A. in Student Affairs Administration in 2009 at Michigan State University. For fun Krissy loves writing, reading, going to the theater, spending time with her friends, traveling (Italy and Ireland are high on her list of places she must visit), and challenging herself creatively.

Melissa Hulme, Lottie Hall & Off Campus Students (SYE) RD:

Melissa HulmeMelissa completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology at Doane College in Crete, Nebraska.  She also completed her Master's Degree in Management at Doane College's Lincoln campus.  In her free time, Melissa enjoys being outside, cooking, being creative, going on walks, spending time with friends and family, and Husker football.

Randee McCabe, Campus Apartments & Houses (UCE) RD:

Randee McCabeRandee received her B.S. in Chemistry from The Schreiner University in Kerrville, TX. She earned her M.A. degree in Higher Education and Student Personnel at The University of Mississippi. In her free time Randee enjoys spending time with her friends and family, reading, volunteering and learning new things – she hopes to teach herself to sew this year.

Shelby Wentworth, Assistant Director of Residential Life:

Shelby WentworthShelby received a B.S. in Family Social Science from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. Shelby’s M.A. in Counseling, specializing in Student Affairs in Higher Education, was earned at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, SD. Shelby loves reading and watching movies. She often spends her free time visiting friends and family or just staying home with her cat, Fur.

Mary Beth Thompson, Associate Director of Residential Life:

Mary Beth began her undergraduate education at Colby-Sawyer College in New London, NH, and transferred her junior year to St. Cloud State University.  At SCSU she earned a B.A. in History with a minor in Film Studies.  Mary Beth finished her M.S. in Counselor Education and Educational Psychology with an emphasis in College Student Development at St. Cloud State University in May of 2005.  When Mary Beth is not at work you can often find her outdoors hiking, biking, canoeing, or fly fishing with her family.  Mary Beth is most at peace any point north of the tunnel on HWY 61 heading up the North Shore of Lake Superior.  Aside from the outdoors Mary Beth also has a love for music and film of just about any genre.

Kelly Crue, Director of Residential Life:

Kelly completed her B.A. from the University of Minnesota Duluth with a double major in Communication and Women’s Studies.  In addition, one year of her undergraduate degree was spent attending Westhill College in Birmingham, England.  Kelly attended the University of Montana for her M.A. in Communication Studies, with an emphasis in Interpersonal Communication.  Kelly enjoys the outdoors and feels most at peace on a river in a canoe.  She enjoys hiking, biking, rollerblading, sand volleyball, golfing, folfing, snowshoeing, rock climbing, hockey and camping.  In her free time, if she cannot be outside, you will probably find her cleaning or organizing.  In her next life she wants to be a professional organizer or the host of the TV show, “Clean Sweep.”
