The CSB/SJU coaching certification program satisfies standards created by the state of Minnesota and the National Association for Sport and Physical Education. Students complete coursework designed to improve knowledge of coaching fundamentals, facilitate skill development, and enhance safety.
The GOALS for the CSB/SJU coaching certification program are as follows:
Goal #1: To develop effective coaches based on the American Sports Education Program (ACEP) model of effective coaching.
Goal #2: To demonstrate an awareness of the role of gender in coaching sports
Goal #3: To demonstrate service and leadership qualities

Requirements for the Coaching Certification: 10 credits plus a zero credit coaching practicum.

Students enrolled at CSB/SJU prior to fall of 2005 have the option of completing the Coaching Certification Curriculum as described in the 2003-2005 Academic Catalog or by completing the revised curriculum as presented in the 2005-2007 Academic Catalog. Attached is a description of how those "transitional" students can satisfy the requirements:
