Jim Schumann came to the College of Saint Benedict in 2000 as the Director of Security. He is a member of the safety, facility usage, and crisis intervention committees. He emphasizes maintaining positive relationships with other colleges, the Saint Joseph Police, and Saint Joseph Fire Departments.
Prior to working at the College of Saint Benedict, Jim was the assistant director of life safety services at Saint John's University, the director of security and safety at Normandale Community College in Bloomington, and the director of security and safety at Concordia College in Saint Paul. In the early 90’s Jim was a member of the Saint Cloud police reserves and an investigator and street supervisor for the metro transit commission. He received his Master’s degree in criminal justice from Saint Cloud State University, where he also earned his undergraduate degree and began his career as a campus security officer.
Outside the College of Saint Benedict, Jim is an adjunct professor in the criminal justice department at Saint Cloud State University.
