A way to be ready to participate fully in the week of service…including community building within groups, training as drivers and learning about diversity and catholic social teaching. Preparation is also about communication with the site and planning travel itineraries, logistics and other details specific to the site.
The direct, tangible, hands–on service work that we do during spring break includes responding to the needs of the community and/or organization in which we are partnering as well as mutual sharing and learning in a spirit of justice and service.
Time for reflection, processing and prayer in order to help group members discover and integrate what service experiences mean in our lives. This serves to help everyone better understand the connections among catholic social teaching, service and what service means for us, as members of our inter-connected global world.
A way of integrating service trips with life at home. Things like the Hunger Clean-up Day and the ASB Garage Sale serve to integrate experiences and also to continue the community is formed during the week.
