Ministry of Gift Bearer Schedule

Thank you for your commitment to the ministry.  Gift bearers should arrive at the meeting place at the Sacred Heart Chapel by 5:40 on the scheduled Sunday to check-in and get instructions.  If you are unable to be a gift bearer, please find a replacement and let our staff know as soon as possible. Thanks!!

Job Description:

Before the Eucharist

• sign the ministry list in the Gathering Place by 5:40 pm and be ready to practice.
• rehearse with gift bearers at 5:45 pm.
• use the assigned pews close to the gift table.

During the Eucharist (toward the end of the collection time)

• one gift bearer adds a drop of water to the wine cup and decanter
• gift bearers wait for the collection to be completed before moving toward the altar.
• gift bearer with the bread walks on the North side and stands on the north side of the altar (opposite side of the choir)
• gift bearers with decanter and cup walk on the South and stand on south of altar (by the choir side)
• greeter with the collection basket walks on North side, behind the bread bearer. This person receives the collection basket from the person with the basket from the north.
• gift bearers present their gifts to the presider; collection person places collection on the floor in front of the altar and stands on the opposite side of the presider.
• presider and gift bearers stand forming a nice balanced circle by the altar.
• all bow with the presider when all the gifts have been presented.

Note: It is important to walk with honor and stand by the altar with dignity. It is also important to dress appropriately.
