Eucharistic Minister Schedule
Thank you for your commitment to this ministry. On the day you are serving, please arrive 15 minutes beforehand to check in. If you are serving for 10:30 mass, check in at the table in the gathering place. If you are serving for the 6:00 mass, check in at the sacristy by 5:40. If you are unable to be an Eucharistic minister on the day(s) that you are scheduled, it is your responsibility to find your own substitute. Once you have found a substitute, please call our staff and let us know who your substitute is. If you are serving at the 10:30 mass, please call Sr. Elaine Schroeder (7030) with substitutes.
Job Description:
Before the Eucharist
- Sign up in the meeting place by 5:40 pm

select an EM position.
At Communication Time
- During the Sign of Peace, go to the vessels table and take the plate or cup as selected and move it to the Santuary; try to move two by two in orderly, dignified fashion.
- Cup ministers stand in a circle around the altar in selected position and wait to have their cups filled
- The cup person signed up by the presider should carry a plate up, but take the presider's cup and stand in the circle with other cup bearers.
- plate people place their plates on the South side of the altar and wait for presider to fill with the consecrated bread, When this is completed, join the circle in designated place.
- When Preside says "Behold the Lamb of God..." turn to face the assembly; after the prayer go to designated place.
- plate holder will hold the plate on the left side of the bread distributor.
- look at the communicant as the proclamation "The body of Christ"/"Blood of Christ" is made.
- after everyone in the assembly has received communion, return your vessel to the table and partake in communion by the North side pillar.
After the Eucharist

bring the vessels from the side table to the sacristy to be washed.

consume, in silence, any Consecrated wine or bread that is left over.

help with the washing and drying of the sacred vessels

cups and plate crumbs should be rinsed and poured down the left (east) drain this is called the sacrarium or holy space.

the water used to wash/rinse the vessels is poured down the right (west) drain
-
hang towels in cupboard.
Note: When the EMs will turn to face the assembly it is important to look straight to the people with honor and hold the Cup and Plate not to high and not to low.
