Renner House

In 2005, the College of Saint Benedict opened Renner House; residence to the CSB President and much more.

Renner House, itself, symbolizes the synergy of transformation that distinguishes the College of Saint Benedict.  Renner House is like so many of the CSB buildings—serving many purposes.  The main floor is a place of celebration, of community, of learning, of joy, reflection, and promise.  Downstairs, students come together, sometimes to plan projects of community service, sometimes for pizza and coke, sometimes with faculty and staff.  On that same floor, guests of the college – visiting artists, shapers of public policy and international affairs, leaders of the church – often spend the night.  Upstairs is home to the CSB President and her husband.

Like the college, Renner House is a place of living, learning, sharing, collaborating, a place of transformation for all.

MORE THAN A PLACE

A college is more than a place. It is people. One of those people is S. Emmanuel Renner—the name-sake of the President's House at the College of Saint Benedict.

Our president from 1979 into 1986, S. Emmanuel epitomizes the values of the College of Saint Benedict.  She, with the able help of so many others, conspired with Michael Becker and Hillary Timmesh, presidents of Saint John’s, to accelerate the union, unique in higher education, that joins our coordinate institutions in joint cause – the purposeful evolution of young women and men into persons of principle, dedication, compassion, and knowledge who will improve the condition of humankind and the world in which they live.
