Working closely with faculty, tour operators and other resources, we put together a “land-package” that includes ground transportation, guided-excursions, first-rate hotels, meals and exciting learning experiences. We frequently enlist alumnae, alumni, faculty and other CSB resources to help make each trip unique.
There are two basic types of travel offerings: 1) Trips uniquely designed by the college with a destination manager; 2) Trips selected by the college that have been arranged for us and other USA colleges by tour companies who specialize in creating educational travel.
Space on all trips is limited. Early decision to participate will help assure your place(s).
Air transportation is left to the individual who often can use frequent flyer miles or wishes to extend their trip. We can direct travelers to local travel agents to assist with flight arrangements, adding excursions to the beginning or end of a trip, etc. Most trips do not include round-trip air in the total price.
Travelers will need to get their own passports; personal travel insurance is recommended.
The ages of most of our participants for international travel range from 35-80+. All are always welcome, including older children who have the requisite curiosity and interest. (Children, regardless of age, must pay the advertised price.)
We emphasize comfort and safety on our trips. For maximum enjoyment, participants must be in good physical and mental health, and be able to keep up with the pace of the group. While reasonable accommodations will be made for those who need some assistance, participants requiring extraordinary assistance must be accompanied by someone who can and will provide all required assistance. Call Kolleen Kellom for information regarding the activity level of a particular trip. Participants should be able to get on and off a bus and should be aware that terrain on location may be uneven and require walking.
Dates, schedules, program details and cost, given in good faith, are subject to change and revision. While we appreciate your tolerance of the occasional change in itinerary, mishaps or delays out of our control, we strive to give you a trip minus any hassles and frazzles. Please note that all trip prices are per person based upon double occupancy, current exchange rates and tariffs and a minimum number of participants. Our pricing is based on 20 participants and the exchange rate at the present time. Substantial changes in the value of the dollar may result in a change in the price of the tour.
Unless otherwise noted, the initial deposit for all tours is fully refundable up to six months prior to departure. After this time, tour participants are subject to cancellation policies governing each particular trip. Cancellation penalties are structured to coincide with advance payments that our travel vendors must make to their suppliers; the penalties are strictly enforced due to these contractual commitments.
Should we need to cancel, your fees will be returned and we will assist you with other arrangements to your destination.
Our prices—competitive and advantageous—are based on double-occupancy. We will assist the single traveler who wants to share accommodations. On all tours, a limited number of single spaces are available for an additional fee on a first-come, first-served basis.
Travel insurance is recommended in case you need to cancel your trip unexpectedly. It is a good idea to check with your medical insurance company to determine whether you are covered outside the U.S. (We strongly recommend that you look into insurance carefully.) You should alert your credit card company that you are traveling away from home so they will know to approve your purchases.
Space is limited on each trip so early registration is advised. Generally, a deposit of $500 per person per tour 120 days in advance of the trip reserves a place. Full payment is due 90 days before the program begins, allowing us to pay vendor fees in advance. Deposits and payments may be paid by Visa or MasterCard or check.
Reservations may be made through our travel office by contacting bcll@csbsju.edu; (toll free) 866-763-3345 or 320-363-5879. Checks should be made out to the College of Saint Benedict, unless otherwise stated, and mailed to Kolleen Kellom; College of Saint Benedict; 37 S. College Ave., St. Joseph, MN 56374.
