Staff Bios

Kelsey Hansen, Aurora & Corona Area Coordinator:

Kelsey graduated from Mount Mercy University in 2011 with her BSN. She then went on to pursue a Master's degree in Student Affairs and Higher Education at Indiana State University. While completing her Master's degree, Kelsey worked as a Resident Director at the University of Indianapolis where she worked with first-year students. In her free time, she enjoys crafting, scrapbooking, reading and anything athletic. Kelsey is really excited to call Minnesota her new home and looks forward to continuing working with first-year women at the College of Saint Benedict.

 Katherine Kromer, Corona Hall Resident Director:

 Katie graduated from Miami University of Ohio in 2014 with a B.A. in Sociology.  While attending college, Katie was a Resident Assistant for two years, where she had the opportunity to live and work with first and second year students.  Katie is excited to join the Saint Benedict community as a Resident Director for Corona Hall and to continue working with first year students.  In her free time, Katie enjoys watching movies, crafting, baking, and listening to music.

 Alison Toering, Regina Hall Resident Director:

Alison received her B.A. degree in Communication from the College of Saint Benedict. After graduation, Alison worked as a Resident Intern at Saint John's Preparatory school where she had the opportunity to work with students from around the world. She is excited for new experiences this upcoming year as a Resident Director for the first year area. While not in the office, Alison enjoys exploring her creativity through art, reading books on female empowerment and participating in events on campus.

Tara graduated in 2010 with her B.A. in Liberal Arts for the Human Services from the University of Minnesota, Morris. After graduation, Tara continued her education at Minnesota State University Moorhead where she completed her M.S. in Educational Leadership, with an emphasis in Higher Education during 2012. Tara is passionate about leadership development, social justice, diversity, and enjoys assisting Bennies in becoming strong global citizens. During her free time, Tara loves to sew and travel.

Anna Mertes, Lottie, Margretta & Brian Area Coordinator:

Anna received her B.A. degree from Ohio Wesleyan University and her M.Ed degree from Kent State University. During graduate school Anna served as an Assistant Resident Director at Cleveland State University. Anna has worked in Residential Life at the College of Saint Benedict for the past three years in the Apartments Area and looks forward to completing her fourth year as an Area Coordinator for Brian, Lottie, and Margretta Halls. Anna likes to stay up-to-date with information specific to Higher Education, enjoys watching Blazer Athletic games, and likes to spend time outdoors.

 Sarah Guzman, Lottie Hall Resident Director:

Sarah graduated from Purchase College with two bachelor degrees in Theater and History. While in college she dedicated most of her time to Residence Life, serving as a Resident Assistant, Conference Coordinator, and Senior Resident Assistant. Sarah is thrilled to serve Lottie Hall as the Resident Director and encourage an environment of empowerment and support for the ladies living there. Sarah's passions out of the office include feminism, drawing, painting, writing, and being outdoors.

Mary Beth Thompson, Director of Residential Life for Facilities and Operations:

Mary Beth began her undergraduate education at Colby-Sawyer College in New London, NH, and transferred her junior year to St. Cloud State University. At SCSU she earned a B.A. in History with a minor in Film Studies. Mary Beth finished her M.S. in Counselor Education and Educational Psychology with an emphasis in College Student Development at St. Cloud State University in May of 2005. When Mary Beth is not at work you can often find her outdoors hiking, biking, canoeing, or fly fishing with her family. Mary Beth is most at peace any point north of the tunnel on HWY 61 heading up the North Shore of Lake Superior. Aside from the outdoors Mary Beth also has a love for music and film of just about any genre.
