CSB Summer Housing

CSB students living on the St. Ben's campus for the summer will have the option of living in Wirth and Zierden, Kapsner, Wagner or Wedl Apartments. SJU students living on the St. Ben's campus for the summer will have the option of living in Zierden Apartments. These apartments are available at the rate of $12.50 per day for each resident.

A limited amount of temporary housing is available for CSB students in Dominica and Olheiser until June 1, 2015 at the rate of $12.00 per day for each resident. Students utilize temporary housing for a variety of reasons including short summer courses, completion of student teaching requirements, athletics, accommodation of travel plans, or preparation for the NCLEX exam.

Kapsner, Wagner or Wedl Apartments are four-person, four bedroom apartments. Wirth and Zierden Apartments are four-person, two-bedroom apartments.  No single apartments, single rooms or apartments with single bedrooms are available for SJU students residing at CSB. All spaces will be filled within each apartment.

Who is eligible for CSB summer housing?

Current CSB/SJU students (who are registered for fall 2015 classes) can live on the CSB campus if they meet any of these requirements:

  • Employed on the CSB/SJU campus (20 hours per week minimum). The Student Employment Office will verify employment.
  • Taking summer classes at CSB/SJU. Class registration will be verified through the Registrar's Office.

Applicants who have been documented for repeated or serious disciplinary/conduct issues may not be approved to live on campus this summer.

CSB students who are taking classes at SCSU or working off-campus will be offered summer housing on a first come first served basis after those who meet first priority guidelines. In addition, applicants who are staying the whole summer have priority over those staying for only a portion of the summer.

The priority application deadline is Sunday, April 26, 2015. Summer Room Selection will take place the week of April 27-May 1, 2015. Those applicants who do not meet the priority deadline will select summer housing after those with priority. After Summer Room Selection takes place, housing will be assigned on a first come first served basis until filled for the summer. Space is limited so please apply early!

What does CSB summer housing cost?

CSB summer housing will be available at the rate of $12.50 per day per resident. The cost for temporary housing will be $12.00 per day per resident. Summer and temporary rent will be assessed in June based upon the dates of your summer housing agreement. All payments should be sent to the CSB Student Accounts office. Cancellation of summer housing or adjustment of summer housing arrival/departure dates after Room Selection may result in an administrative fee equal to one week’s rent. CSB Residential Life may not be able to accommodate adjustments to summer housing dates.

Can I choose my CSB summer housing roommates?

The CSB summer housing application includes a place for applicants to list the names of people they would like to room with. People wishing to share an apartment for the summer must all request to live with each other. Each summer housing resident must fill out an application. Those looking for a summer roommate will be able to search through a list of summer housing applicants who are also searching for a roommate.

All available spaces will be filled in each apartment. Single applicants may select or be assigned any open housing spaces.

Students staying on campus are required to follow all CSB Residential Life policies and CSB/SJU campus policies as outlined in the CSB Residential Handbook, the Bennie Book and the J-Book.

When do I move into CSB summer housing?

All CSB campus residents will move to their summer or temporary housing on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 between 10:00am and 8:00pm. CSB students must move on this designated day! SJU students may begin moving into CSB summer housing on Wednesday, May 13, 2015. Please contact the CSB Residential Life office if you have questions or concerns regarding this timeline.

Every CSB student must complete a checkout with their RA or CA by the final day of checkouts (Friday, May 8, 2015). Failure to do so will result in a $50.00 improper check out fee. Students will be allowed to remain in their rooms or apartments until they can move to summer or temporary housing on May 13th. In order for your RA or CA to accurately checkout your room or apartment, please pack all of your belongings and move them to a concise pile.

SJU students should contact SJU Residential Life to arrange to remain in SJU housing until Wednesday, May 13th.

CSB Students moving to summer or temporary housing do not need to turn in room keys at the time of checkout with the RA or CA. Instead, academic year keys must be turned in by 8:00pm on Thursday, May 14, 2015. All academic year keys must be turned in by 8:00pm on Thursday, May 14, 2015 to avoid re-keying fees of $25.00 per room/apartment key. A summer room key will be issued to you on the day of summer move-in.

When do I move out of CSB summer housing?

CSB summer housing ends at 10.00 pm on Saturday, August 8, 2015. All CSB Students who will be living on campus during fall semester of the 2015-2016 academic year will move to their fall housing at this time. All summer to fall moves must be completed by 10:00pm on Saturday, August 8th so plan your work schedules and travels early and make arrangements to move out on this weekend. If you plan to be gone during this period you may need to move off campus completely and move back into your fall housing when you return. Please plan accordingly!

CSB students living off campus or going abroad for the fall semester will need to arrange for off campus housing after Saturday, August 8, 2015. SJU students will move in to their fall housing at SJU at this time.

All summer apartment keys must be turned in to the Residential Life office by 8:00am on Sunday, August 9, 2015. Summer residents will be assessed fees for any keys not returned by that deadline. Key fees are $25.00 per apartment key.

What services are available to me in the summer?

CSB Residential Life employs two summer CAs who live in summer housing and work both in the Residential Life office and in the apartments. These CAs are available to help summer residents with the move-in and move-out process, to answer questions and to organize events for the students living on campus in the summer.

Other CSB campus services such as the Library, Fitness Center and Gorecki Dining are open with limited summer hours.
