What is the R.A.D. System?

The Rape Aggression Defense System is a program of realistic, self-defense tactics and techniques. The RAD System is comprehensive course for ALL women that begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction and avoidance, while progression on to the basics of hands-on defense training. Women do not need a Martial Arts or self-defense background to effectively learn and employ the defensive skills.   The goals of RAD is to reduce victimization by providing women with options for self-defense and empowering them to take responsibility for their own safety and security.   RAD is endorsed by the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA) and is offered, through certified instructors, as a community crime prevention initiative throughout the nation.

RAD Basic Physical Defense, currently offered at CSB, is a combination of awareness and risk reduction strategies and physical defense techniques.  The program is based on the principles of empowerment, education, self-reliance, making decisions for oneself, and realizing personal power.  This system of realistic defense will provide a woman with the knowledge to make an educated decision about resistance.  RAD programs encourage frequent practice to retain information and skills.  Once a student has completed the course, they are given free admittance for life to return and practice at any RAD course across the US and Canada at no cost.

Safety and survival in today's world requires a definite course of action.  RAD provides effective options by teaching women to take an active role in their own self-defense and psychological well being.
