Research/Professional Interests:

Protein tyrosyl phosphatases are important enzyme regulators of signal tranduction cascades in cells.  Using site-specific mutagenesis to change critical amino acids in human low molecular weight protein tyroysl phosphatase, my research group is studying the structure and function of the protein.  To do this we use enzyme kinetic measurements, fluorescence spectroscopy, and in silico mlolecular modeling of the protein and inhibitors.  Additional, we use fluorescence to study structural transitions in proteins and lipids.
