While at CSB/SJU, Jenna worked on a venture called Building Bridges. Building Bridges is a nonprofit organization with a mission to “Connect adults with disabilities to meaningful work through empowering confidence, inspiration, and the ability to believe in oneself.” The idea for Building Bridges came from Jenna’s experience working with adults with disabilities. Not only is Jenna a former employee of Lifeworks Services, a center for adults with disabilities in the Twin Cities area, but her older sibling and closest friend, Nicole, has a disability as well. Jenna has watched Nicole struggle with career placement and career opportunity. Jenna see’s Building Bridges as a way for adults with disabilities to break the barriers of “stereotypical” job placement, and seek out professional opportunities in fields that suit their interests and goals. The Entrepreneur Scholars program has helped Jenna pursue her interests in social entrepreneurship.
