The Minnesota Education Career Fair will be held at the Minneapolis Convention Center on Monday, April 6, 2009. School district representatives from various parts of the United States will be in attendance. The representatives at the Fair will provide candidates with information about job opportunities within their districts. Many of the districts will establish interview schedules and conduct actual employment interviews on the day of the Career Fair. Participating school districts will seek to hire in areas of elementary, secondary, special education, school counselors, administration, as well as school social workers.
Participating organization list will be updated until the day of the fair as organizations register.
Twenty-seven teacher producing institutions in Minnesota will have candidates participating in this event. Transportation and accommodations to attend the fair are on your own. To be eligible for the Education Career Fair, you must be a student or graduate from a Minnesota College or University and register through your college career office. You must also be available for employment for the 2009-2010 academic year.
Registration form, check, and resume must be received at the Career Services CSB Office by March 11, 2009, to reserve your spot at the Career Fair. If you are registered and decide not to attend the Career Fair, reimbursement of the fee will only be available prior to March 23 (two weeks prior to the fair). After the March 11th registration deadline, Career Services will send updates, details, and hints regarding the fair to the address provided on your registration form.
All district participation updates will be available through the http://www.mcucsa.org/mnedfair website. Upon deciding to attend the Fair, you are encouraged to use this website to gain contact information to write letters to the districts to obtain application materials and request an interview for the day of the fair, Monday, April 6. Address information and contacts for each district will be available at the above mentioned link.
Candidates looking out of state have the most to gain: although you will see Minnesota school districts represented, some of them will participate only to provide information and not to interview. The out-of- state schools will be much more likely to both inform and interview. Many of the school districts may not know all their needs for the coming year by April 6, but will be available at the Career Fair to provide information and collect resumes for their district. This is a wonderful networking and interviewing opportunity!
