7 Ways Your Resume is Boring or Like Everyone Else's
boring resume

"Your resume needs to do two things: it needs to capture the hiring manager's attention - and it needs to motivate him or her to pick up the phone and call you for an interview. If you look and sound like everyone else, you have no competitive advantage. Therefore, you've provided the HR person with zero motivation to pick up the phone, call you, and schedule an interview."

Bennie and Johnnie Spotlights

Alum: Joe Long, '13 ECON Major
Season Ticket Sales/Service Executive - Minnesota Twins Baseball

"Breaking into the sports industry can be difficult and frustrating. I would suggest applying to as many internships and entry-level positions as possible. Before the interview process, reach out to people within that specific organization. Current sports professionals faced the same difficulty and will be as helpful as possible. Last and probably most important, get a well-rounded education. Luckily, this is exactly what you will receive with a degree from CSB/SJU."

Intern: Jacqulyn Schoenecker, '17 ACCT Major
Summer Finance Associate - Medtronic

"I learned the importance of hands-on experience. I was able to take what I learned in the classroom and and apply it in a real-life situation. It was amazing how many times I'd be working on something and the concept that I had a hard time grasping in the classroom would finally 'click' in my head!"
