Resources for Alums

Alums are encouraged to utilize the Alum On-Line Community to network with other CSB|SJU graduates. Resources are also available on the Career Services' Homepage.

How You Can Assist Career Services:

Assist with General Career Programming:

  • Participate on a career panel (Career Exploration Series) based on “What Can I Do with a Major in…?” or “Careers in…”
  • Participate in a Career Cyber Chat and electronically connect to students for a career-related discussion.  Perfect for those alums that can’t make it back to campus due to distance.

Help students learn more about Career/Internship/Employment Opportunities:

  • Host a company visit at your place of employment
  • Allow students to “shadow” you for part of a day or a day to learn about your occupation.
  • Say “Yes” to a student requesting an “Information Interview” with you to learn more about your job
  • Host a “Commute to Careers” program at your organization so students can meet and learn from you and other alums about a career area.

Assist with career programming for Internships/Employment:

  • Come to campus and conduct “practice interviews” with students
  • Participate in an “Interviewing/Networking Tips” session to help students learn effective techniques.
  • Recruit for internships/jobs at your company/organization.
  • Post jobs on E-link and/or conduct on-campus interviews
  • Hold “Information Sessions” to inform students about career opportunities at your company.
  • Connect your organization to a Fair that CSB/SJU students utilize for internships and employment.
  • Participate in the annual “reception” for students attending the MN Private College Job/Internship Fair.

Assist with Graduate School career programming:

  • Share information about summer undergraduate research opportunities available at your company/organization.
  • Participate in a “The Graduate School Process” panel and share information about the application process and the graduate school experience.

Assist with Full-Time Volunteer programming:

  • Participate in panels to share your experiences as a volunteer.
  • Attend the annual Volunteer Fair in November and recruit for your organization.
  • Post full-time volunteer positions on E-Link.
