Why meet with a career counselor?
As registration approaches for CSB and SJU students, it's the perfect time for students to assess who they are, explore their interests and skills and evaluate what's important for their future. Registering for classes tends to remind students why they are here, and, while this vision of the future can be exciting for some students, it can feel overwhelming to others. Career Services is here to help your son/daughter navigate this process.
Among the many resources and events we provide, individual appointments with a career counselor can be the most powerful. The career counselors at CSB/SJU enjoy meeting individually with students to understand who they are, what inspires them and what goals they have. Once we know your son/daughter, we offer guidance as they explore major and career options and encouragement as they engage in experiential opportunities to further develop their skills. We also teach strategies to making lifelong career decisions, and we help students prepare a plan for a successful job search.
If your son/daughter has expressed concern with choosing a major, registering for classes or applying for internships and jobs, encourage him/her to make an appointment by calling our office at (CSB) 320-363-5707; (SJU) 320-363-3236.
We also encourage students and parents to check out the newly accessible graduate survey database. Students and their parents can search for information about where our alumnae/i have gone post-graduation. You can search by major, location, business/organization, school, etc. We are excited to provide students, parents, alumnae/i and prospective families this new resource.
