Education: B.A. in Biology, Lynchburg College; M.S. and Ph.D. in Botany from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Research interests: Studies of the secondary metabolism in plants and fungi, especially the phenomenon of cyanogenesis, and floristic studies of plants and fungi.
Courses taught: Plant Physiology, Plant Taxonomy, Plants and Human Affairs, Concepts of Biology 115 and 116.
Recommended advisor for: Students interested in botany, plant physiology, mycology, phytochemistry, and forestry.
Dr. Saupe is the curator of the CSB/SJU Bailey Herbarium and editor of the CSB/SJU Biology Department Newsletter.
