Support for Travel to Catholic Benedictine-related Conferences

There are two different conference opportunities to help us better understand and communicate the Catholic and Benedictine traditions of our schools.  Faculty thinking about teaching a Benedictine Raven course in the Integrations Curriculum will find these experiences especially helpful.  Both conferences are open to employees regardless of your longevity at our schools or your personal faith perspective.  You do not need to be knowledgeable about a Catholic or Benedictine perspective in order to attend and get a lot out of these experiences.  The Benedictine Institute has funding available so that you need not use your individual travel funds.

First, the Benedictine Institute coordinates CSB/SJU's involvement in Collegium.  Every year we send two faculty (all expenses paid) to participate in the summer conference to learn about the landscape of Catholic higher education and help faculty members reflect on what role they, as individuals, play within that context.  Collegium's Annual Colloquy will be held on June 14-21, 2024 at the College of the Holy Cross, Worcester, Massachusetts. Application deadline to attend is February 12, 2024.  Click here for application information. You may also visit collegium.org. for additional details.

Second, there is funding for multiple faculty and staff to attend the ABCU Benedictine Pedagogy & Leadership Conference on June 24-27, 2024.  This year, the conference will be at the College of Saint Benedict, Saint Joseph, Minnesota and will provide a venue by which faculty, staff, and administrators can share ideas and practices by which they have successfully integrated the Ten Hallmarks developed by the Association of Benedictine Colleges and Universities (ABCU) in the classroom, student life, and collegiate environment. For more information and to apply, click the link to the conference page above.

All proposals are to be submitted via this link. Click here for 2024 specifics. The deadline for proposals is Friday, March 22. Those selected to present will be notified by April 1. For questions, contact host school BPC facilitator Daniella Zsupan-Jerome at [email protected].

Finally, we have some money available to support faculty and staff travel to other conferences that are explicitly aimed at helping employees learn about or integrate our Catholic and/or Benedictine mission into their work.  If you plan on attending such a conference, please contact us regarding potential funding.
