This is an educational volunteer program for adults akin to the Master Gardener program and is geared toward adults who are curious and enjoy learning about the natural world, sharing their knowledge with others, and support conservation. Volunteers complete a 40-hour course over 11 weeks, studying natural history, environmental interpretation, and conservation stewardship, as well as a final capstone project.
This summer Saint John`s Arboretum will offer the ‘Prairie and Potholes’ Master Naturalist class. The Arboretum offers an ideal place for studying prairies with over 50 acres of restored prairie on site. Join instructors Sarah Gainey and Steve Devereaux for a 6 week class exploring the prairie biome. Classes are on Monday and Wednesday nights from 6:30 - 9:00 pm and occur the weeks of June 23rd and 30th and July 7th- 14th- 21st- and 28th. Two all day Saturday field trips will be on July 12th and July 19th. Spend part of your summer exploring this unique part of our state!
The course costs $200 and includes materials.
