The J-Club was founded in 1959. Former letter winners were asked to pay dues to support varsity athletics. Today, hundreds of alumni, parents and fans support athletics at Saint John's University by paying dues, assisting in identifying potential future Johnnie student-athletes and "getting the red out" at SJU athletic contests.

The J-Club, a dues-based booster organization of former Johnnie student-athletes, parents and fans, plays a key role in support of our varsity programs, intramurals and club sports. The J-Club promotes attendance at our games - leading the cry to “Get the Red Out” by wearing “Johnnie red” apparel in the stands. The J-Club extends hospitality at home games. The J-Club, in partnership with Jostens, conducts the Gagliardi Trophy awarded annually to the outstanding NCAA Division III football player who exhibits excellence in athletics, academics and community service.
We ask that you please team-up with our coaches, student-athletics, trainers and staff to keep Johnnie athletics in the thick of national competition and at the top of the MIAC. Share in the proud accomplishments of our teams by being a member of the J-Club.
Membership in the J-Club has its privileges. Dues-paying J-Club members receive the satisfaction of being a real part of Saint John’s teams. You also receive a pass for two to all regular-season home football, basketball and hockey games; that alone is a $400 value. In addition, you get an advanced copy of the newly published booklet St. Benedict's Rule for Fair Play in Sports by Larry Haeg ’67; in it, Larry describes how Benedict might integrate sports into his philosophy of worship and work – a must-read for all fans who understand the integral relationship of mind, body and spirit.
Here are just some of the ways the J-Club supplemented Athletic Department budgets this past year by purchasing:
Thank you for supporting Johnnie athletics – for cheering for our teams, for telling high school student-athletes about our outstanding academic and athletic programs, for sharing the names of prospective student-athletes with our Admission Office, for joining the J-Club. We hope to see you in the coming months at our athletic contests …get the red out and wear it proudly!
