“Leatherheads” based on SJU Alumnus Johnny Blood

Newly released “Leatherheads” is based on SJU alumnus Johnny Blood. Johnny Blood McNally was an outstanding student and athlete at Saint John’s in the 1920s. Following his professional football days as a NFL Hall of Fame back, he returned to Collegeville to complete his degree in 1949. He also taught economics and coached football as John Gagliardi’s immediate predecessor. Johnny Blood McNally was also a recipient of the SJU Alumni Achievement Award.
