Community planner and architect expands Studio’s expertise base
GreenWorks Studio, a sustainable design firm, welcomes Celeste Novak to its team. Novak will be based out of the Detroit office and focused on growing the studio in her areas of expertise; community planning and sustainable design. She will develop and lead client workshops and help design teams establish sustainable goals.
“Celeste is a wonderful addition to our team,” said Susan King, GreenWorks Studio Leader. “Her experience in sustainable design and community planning is invaluable as we deepen our expertise base and grow the studio.”
A licensed architect with over 20 years experience, Novak has provided sustainable design assessments for organizations and communities throughout the United States. She is an adjunct professor at Lawrence Technological University where she teaches environmental issues and sustainable design and has authored articles on the topics of green materials, adaptive re-use, and LEED.
Novak earned a Masters and Bachelors of Architecture from the University of Michigan and a bachelors degree from the College of Saint Benedict. She is a LEED accredited professional and member of the Michigan Society of Planning Professionals. Currently, she serves on the National Board of Directors of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) as the Michigan Regional Director. She is also a member of the NCARB Sustainable Design Task Force, as well as a member of the AIA Sustainable Design Discussion Group, where she has led several Sustainable Design Assessment Teams for AIA.
