Welcome to the class of 1988 Web Page!

This is a place where you can come to check out all of our class activities leading up to our 20th reunion on September 26-28, 2008. Plus, you can learn about and get involved with the Class of 1988 Class Committee. We’ll continue to update this page throughout this reunion year and beyond, so please visit this page on a regular basis to keep up to date with what’s going on with our class!

Twenty-year class reunion plans were a hot topic at the Marshall Standup in January for (from left) Troy Fritz '88, Shannon Gray '88 and Todd Bock '88.
What’s a Class Committee?
The Saint John’s University Alumni Association was founded in 1882 with an enduring mission: “to strengthen and perpetuate the bond of friendship formed in college days, to advance the welfare – spiritual and temporal – of its members and to further the interests of alma mater.”
The same spirit of this statement carries over to Class Committees today. Class Committee members gather to enjoy the kind of camaraderie that is famously unique to Johnnies. Furthermore, they work to connect other classmates to Saint John’s and to each other. More details about being involved with our Class Committee are at the bottom of this page.
Who's Leading the Class Committee?
Pete Stoddart, class agent, is leading the 1988 Class Committee, along with a growing list of talented individuals including Dave Johnston, Shawn Govern, Jon Hanson, John Ellis, Greg Neeser, Tom Sweetman, George Maurer, Troy Fritz, Kevin Hynes, Andy Miller, Paul Bennett, Rick Wojciechowski and Pat Lynch.
What’s Our Reunion Plan?
As mentioned above, our reunion weekend is September 26-28, 2008. In addition to the many annual Homecoming activities, our class reunion committee is planning special events just for our class. View a schedule of the weekend’s activities. Jon Hanson and Tom Sweetman have agreed to lead the charge for a class golf outing on Friday, September 26, 2008. More details to follow.
Since Johnnies tend to be a competitive bunch, our class committee has set some goals for our reunion year. You can look through these goals below.

Post a Memory or Photo/View a Memory or Photo

Many of us have memories of Saint John’s that we like to share with other Johnnies when we get together. Now, even if we can’t be together in person, we can still share some of our favorite pictures, as well as thoughts about our alma mater and our time together. To do this, please email your picture or story to Thom Woodward at twoodward@csbsju.edu. The Saint John’s staff will post these items, and we’ll soon have a link so we can read what our fellow classmates have to say.
Andy Clark `88, president of the Vail-Eagle Youth Hockey Association, celebrated the second year of the Rocky Mountain Pond Hockey Championships on Nottingham Lake. Clark started the event last year. His inspiration came from his memories of playing hockey at Saint John’s University and the U.S. Pond Hockey Championships hosted on Lake Nokomis in Minneapolis. "That really stuck in my psyche, and when I came out here to Colorado in 1987, they really didn't have anything like that in Vail. Over the years, I've been the director of the youth association and a lot of other positions and always (thought) back to, 'Wouldn't it be nice . . .' " The event grew to 24 teams, expanding from the 18 teams that participated last year. View the full story.
Peter Rothstein `88 was featured in the December 16 Minneapolis StarTribune Entertainment section in an article about a special Christmas performance celebrating an unusual truce during World War I. Artistic director of Theatre Latté Da, Peter teamed with the vocal group, Cantus, to re-create the moment on Dec. 24, 1914, when British and German soldiers gave peace a chance. “All Is Calm,” performed four times in late December, used 26 songs and comments from soldiers’ journals to tell how the combatants briefly put hostilities on hold. So How Can I Get Involved?
If you’d like to be involved with our class committee, please contact Thom Woodward at twoodward@csbsju.edu or at 320.363.2586. Over the coming year, our class will be working on supporting the Four Cornerstones of the Alumni Association:
We’d love to see you get involved, so please contact Thom Woodward today. The Class Committee is a great way to get reconnected to Saint John’s or to strengthen the connections that you already have.
