The story of how Toluca was named

Toluca may seem like a strange name, but it has a lot of personal meaning for me. In December of 2005 I was selected to play in the Aztec bowl, a compilation of Division III All Stars vs. Team Mexico, the best football players in Mexico. Toluca, Mexico, which is 1 ½ hours Southwest of Mexico City, was the site of the game. It was such a great memory for the last football game I ever played - we won 53-15. My fiancé attended the game along with my best friend from college. It was a great week in a great city. Everything from the food, to the players, to the game - it was like I was in a dream.

In March 2006 we bought our first puppy to replace the void left when my family’s dog died. No coincidence that my childhood dog died the same day my college football career did in Whitewater, WI. Toluca was the only name that seemed to fit!

Toluca is a yellow Lab German Shepherd mix. She comes from a litter of 9 where most of the puppies were yellow, but Toluca and another were the only two black ones. Her birthday is January 30, 2006.
