At CSB/SJU, we will work with you to make sure you are receiving the appropriate credits. Each case is evaluated on an individual basis, but the following are the general guidelines. CSB/SJU will accept credits from another college that meet the following criteria:
In some cases, students may apply these courses towards core and/or major requirements. Grades earned for transferred coursework are not calculated into the student's cumulative GPA. Before credit may be transferred, the Registrar's Office must receive an official transcript directly from the college at which the courses were completed. Consult the Registrar's Office or Admission Office for further information.
CSB/SJU have a strong relationship with Minnesota’s community colleges and have developed specific transfer policy for credits earned at those institutions. The following Transfer Guides outline classes and credits that will transfer.
All of the following semester guides are Acrobat PDF files that can be easily read and printed, provided that you have an Acrobat Reader® and a Postscript printer. Don't panic if you don't have this helper application. You can easily download a free copy from Adobe Acrobat site. Download the Reader software.
After downloading, simply install it on your hard drive and you should be up and running in no time. It can operate independently of your web browser or it can be installed as a plug-in so you never have to leave your browser. If you have any questions or need technical help, Adobe has a great Support and Services section.

CSB/SJU students are required to live on campus during their first two years. Juniors and seniors should contact the residential life offices about the possibility of living off campus. The availability, variety, convenience and quality of upper-class housing on both campuses make the on-campus option the best option.
Transferring is not the end of the world. With the number of colleges students have to choose from, it has to be expected that some students won’t choose the best fit the first time around.
Students transfer for all sorts of reasons: too far from home, too close to home, not enough to do, too many distractions, the food wasn’t good enough and the list goes on. The college experience has to be right for you and only you can decide to transfer. If you are looking for a new school, CSB/SJU just might be right for you. Here are two students’ perspectives on transferring to CSB/SJU.
Justin Dietrick
Littleton, CO
My brother went to CSB and SJU and has always talked about what a special place it is, but being on campus is better than any stories he told. On my visit to the campuses, the welcoming atmosphere impressed me. I really felt at home. That was what was lacking at the other school I attended. I never really felt like I belonged.
I felt that CSB and SJU would help me learn more about myself. The students and staff challenge you and allow you to challenge yourself, but are always there to support you. Aside form learning more about myself, I believed that these schools would prepare me for a future in a competitive job market. I wanted a school with up-to-date facilities and technology. I found that and more here. The computer network is more than I ever expected, the new athletic facilities are amazing and the housing options are great.
Everything I had looked for in a school, I found here. I feel that when I finish school, CSB/SJU will have given me an education worth millions.

Stillwater, MN
The moment I walked onto the wooded acres of Saint Benedict’s and Saint John’s, I knew this was the place for me to experience the rest of my college years. It was more than just the appearance of the schools. The trees and gardens that surrounded majestic brick buildings helped to sway my decision, but were not the main reasons I chose to transfer. Instead, it was the intense feeling of community and hospitality I experienced from the moment I stepped on to campus.
Because I had already experienced a "college experience" at another school, I knew what I was looking for. I wanted to be in a place that would shape the rest of my life. The small classes and close community offered the perfect environment.
On some level, I recognized that CSB/SJU would provide me with the tools to succeed in life. I learned that life is a precarious balance between knowledge, family, spirituality and self-renewal. This is the greatest lesson any young woman must learn.
College Transfer and Readmit students have special needs and deserve their own special admission counselor. If you have questions about the transfer or readmit process, please contact Teri Durbin at tdurbin@csbsju.edu.
